Wow.
What can I say. Didn’t think it would come to this. For the most part I have been going to the office as needed since the office is empty and cleaned regularly. All my kids were still in school so it has been easy to manage.
Starting today that all changes. All three are home and the ages range from 17 months, 7 years and 12 years with the two older ones on HBL. The oldest can manage it himself but my 7 year old needs tech and math support. Needless to say there is a lot to do.
Now with the playgrounds closed we have no where to play, the pool is closed so now we can’t swim, and we live in a smallish apartment - which means we are all climbing the walls. We are trying to combat that with morning walks and trips to various parks but the school schedule tends to get in the way. I actually think the schools should have made the mornings free for families to plan getting out since we all know due to the heat we are stuck inside the rest of the day.
I have no good ways of making any of this better.
2 weeks - I can see myself through that.
1 month - I am not sure how to do this.
Work wise it is tough to get it all done and manage the kids. On top of all of this with no gym and no going to work - I am basically not getting much exercise which is also bugging me. I assume I will find a groove but not sure what is going to work.
I miss the office, I miss commuting and I miss in person office chats.
Okay - rant over.
Next episode I will talk more about tech, startups and my views on what will happen.
I also predict that work at home will have a backlash when done and most folks who are not already work at home pre-COVID will be itching to get back to the office.
ps. playing with a daily format since writing for me is therapy.
yeah - the whole not working out is a drag and I sit next to the kitchen - thus means the eating is ramping. not a great month but I am sure I should be thankful given others are worse off. :)
Oh man, I hear you. We’re a month in and it’s getting easier now but not fun. Big props to all the folks having to manage families on top of the work commitments. I hope I still fit my work shirts at the end of this :-)
